Roger Jones

Mr. Jones studied Journalism, Marketing, Advertising Design and English at Ohio University where he graduated cum laude. His graduate studies included Marketing and Advertising at Pratt Institute in New York, NY and Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.

Mr. Jones has an extensive corporate background, having worked as Director of Advanced Planning at the Woodward & Lothrop division of Federated Stores, as Assistant Director of Communications at the National Chamber of Commerce in Washington D.C. and Pallace Advertising Inc. in Columbia, MD, and as Associate Editor at Reader’s Digest Books in New York, N.Y. While working at Reader’s Digest Books, Mr. Jones worked on the development of best-sellers such as “Our National Parks,” “America from the Road,” “The Magic and Medicine of Plants” and “50 State Birds and Flowers (First Day Cover Special Collection).”

Mr. Jones also worked as a consultant with the Washington Post, The New York Times, Ameryka USA, Amway Corporation, American Express and Mobil Corporation.

Mr. Jones’ marketing and public relations expertise are well documented in the media, having acted as a consultant/spokesperson for clients in the areas of health care, education, politics, environment and transportation for Newark Public Schools, Hudson County Community College, City of Jersey City and Hudson County Democratic Organization.

Mr. Jones currently serves as Chairman of the Hudson County/Jersey City Workforce Development Board. Mr. Jones is a former Chief of Staff for the City of Jersey City, and former Chairman for the Jersey City Employment and Training Program. He is also a former member of the Board of Directors of the Community Lending & Investment Corporation (CLIC) of Jersey City and the Board of Trustees of Hudson County Schools of Technology Foundation, as well as being a former member of the Board of Christ Hospital and a former member of Saint Anthony High School Board of Trustees.

Mr. Jones has spoken on public relations and marketing at a host of seminars and conferences, such as the New York University Head Start Technical Assistance Support Center. He was also a panelist at the Columbia University Hechinger Institute on Education and the Media. His comments from that seminar are published.

Mr. Jones has won awards and has been published in advertising magazines such as Art Direction, Print Magazine, Graphis and Communication Arts, and was honored by the United Nations in recognition of outstanding public service.
